Mukasa Edward is an elite athlete, coach, and teacher at an orphanage in Mukono, Uganda. When his 50+ children aged 5-17 needed running shoes, our masters athlete and coach Franco Leonardi organized a drive to send Mukasa lightly used shoes from Dearborn. And when shipping costs and taxes proved overwhelming, Dearborn Track Club provided the needed support to ensure the shoes made it to their new home in Uganda.
The Dearborn Track Club proudly supports Running Blind, a local SE Michigan charity which helps visually impaired athletes enjoy the sport of running. Hal Wolff and his team provide guide runners, training, and youth camp sponsorships to assist people of all ages living with disabilities. Check out the great work Running Blind is doing for our sport!
Helping the Dearborn Public Schools and The Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries, the Dearborn Track Club has assisted with the delivery of backpacks and school supplies to underprivileged students. We are proud of our Dearborn community and all that our athletes do to help others in need. Thanks for everyone who came out to help!
In collaboration with The Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries, Dearborn Track Club helped deliver meals to Dearborn Public Schools families during the holiday season.
